En concreto en esta obra, ¿refleja tus experiencias personales o es más bien una exploración de temas universales?
En esta foto, nuestro protagonista aparece sacado de una historia legendaria y el demonio blanco, tal y como aparece en la narración original, es un individuo poderoso que entabla una lucha con el héroe del cuento. Sin embargo, al reevaluar la historia del demonio blanco empecé a considerar que, tras la derrota del protagonista, el demonio se iría debilitando y quedando solo con el paso del tiempo. Si se observa más de cerca, se aprecia una cicatriz en el estómago del demonio blanco que contribuyó a su estado de debilitamiento.
¿Qué representa el Diablo Blanco en el contexto de tu obra?
Para mí, el Diablo Blanco simboliza la opresión duradera que siempre ha existido en la sociedad humana, y creo que esta opresión nunca desaparecerá.
¿Cómo se relaciona esta obra con las demás?
Fotografío en diferentes estilos, y me resulta difícil relacionarlas con mis otras colecciones. Sin embargo, como tengo otras colecciones por etapas, puedo vincularlas a temas que me interesan como los relatos históricos o los aspectos culturales de mi país.
Esta imagen tiene una cualidad etérea, casi sobrenatural; ¿has utilizado técnicas fotográficas o de postprocesado específicas para conseguir este efecto?
Para esta colección utilicé una cámara Canon 5D Mark 3. Como esta foto está relacionada con un relato histórico, quise realzar ese ambiente empleando la técnica del blanco y negro. Dado que el personaje de la colección es blanco, convertí toda la foto a blanco y negro, lo que mejoró el contraste. Esto permite que el personaje destaque más ante el público.
La paleta de grises y el grano de la imagen sugieren una influencia del cine negro o de la fotografía primitiva. ¿Se inspira en elementos del pasado para crear arte moderno?
Todas mis herramientas fotográficas son digitales y, para esta colección, me basé exclusivamente en la luz ambiente para evocar una atmósfera documental en las fotos.
¿Qué opinas del compromiso del artista con la sociedad?
En mi opinión, el deber de todo artista es abordar las cuestiones políticas, sociales y religiosas presentes en su propia sociedad. Me inclino por crear obras de arte que se centren en estas cuestiones, ya que creo que pueden servir como una pequeña pieza del rompecabezas social, contribuyendo a posibles soluciones o mejoras.
A lo largo de tu carrera has experimentado con diversos medios y técnicas. ¿Hay algún medio o técnica en particular que aún no hayas explorado y que te gustaría probar en el futuro?
No siento la necesidad de explorar otra forma de arte porque la fotografía me proporciona todo lo que deseo.
There is a palpable sense of solitude and reflection in HT.photo‘s art work.
In this particular work, does it reflect personal experiences or is it more an exploration of universal themes?
In this photo, our main character is depicted as taken from a legendary story, and the white demon, as portrayed in the original narrative, is a powerful individual who engages in a fight with the hero of the tale. However, upon reevaluating the story of the White Devil, I began to consider that following the protagonist’s defeat, the demon would gradually grow weaker and lonelier over time. Upon closer inspection, a scar on the white demon’s stomach is noticeable, which contributed to his weakened state.
What does the «White Demon» represent in the context of your work?
For me, the White Devil symbolizes the enduring oppression that has always existed in human society, and I believe that this oppression will never vanish.
How does this piece connect with the other artworks.
I photograph in different styles, and I find it challenging to connect them to my other collections. However, since I have additional staged collections, I can link them to topics that interest me, such as the historical narratives or cultural aspects of my country.
This image has an ethereal, almost supernatural quality; did you use specific photographic or post-processing techniques to achieve this effect?
I used a Canon 5D Mark 3 camera for this collection. Since this photo is connected to a historical story, I aimed to enhance the historical ambiance by employing the black and white technique. Given that the character in our collection is depicted as white, I converted the entire photo to black and white, resulting in improved contrast. This allows the character to stand out more prominently to the audience.
The grey palette and the graininess of the image suggest an influence of film noir or early photography. Do you draw on elements of the past to create modern art?
All my photography tools are digital, and for this collection, I exclusively relied on ambient light to evoke a documentary-like atmosphere in the photos. Additionally, I utilized a zoom lens throughout this series to convey the essence of wildlife photography.
What do you think of the artist’s commitment to society?
In my opinion, the duty of every artist is to address the political, social, and religious issues present within their own society. I am inclined to create artworks that focus on these matters, as I believe they can serve as a small piece of the societal puzzle, contributing to potential solutions or improvements.
Throughout your career you have experimented with different media and techniques. Is there a particular medium or technique that you have not yet explored and that you would like to try in the future?
I don’t feel the need to explore another art form because photography provides me with everything I desire.
